SCOTT
A. SMITH
Mr. Smith received his
Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at Los
Angeles in 1970. Following a year of graduate study in political science at
California State University at Fullerton, he entered Loyola
University School of Law, from which he received his Juris
Doctorate in 1974. While
at Loyola he was on the Dean's List and was Associate Editor of
the Loyola Law Review.
During the last two years of law school, he clerked for a
law office with an emphasis on municipal law.
Following his admission to the California Bar and Federal
Court in 1974, he became a partner in a three-man firm with
emphasis on civil litigation and municipal law. At that time he also became the Assistant City Attorney for
the City of Placentia.
Since
1975, he has specialized in civil litigation, primarily in the
general negligence, premises liability, construction defects,
and business litigation fields.
He has served on the Ethics Committee of the Orange
County Bar Association and on the Judiciary Committee.
He also serves as Judge Pro Tem in the Orange County
Superior Court and as an Arbitrator. He is an active member of the American Board of Trial
Advocates (ABOTA), has been President of
the Orange County Chapter, and a Director on the National Board
of ABOTA and holds the rank of Advocate. He has
lectured for Continuing Education programs.
He is married and the father of four children. He has been active as a coach in youth sports programs and
has served
on the board of an educational foundation.
He and his wife, Terry, serve as National Co-Chairs for the UCLA
Parents Fund and are members of the Chancellor Associates at UCLA. |
